Department of Nephrology

  Royal Perth Hospital (RPH) is one of four Perth metropolitan hospitals to provide renal/dialysis services.
It is the largest unit in Western Australia with the third largest number of patients receiving dialysis treatment in Australia, perfoming 20 - 30 renal transplants per year and outpatients services for approximately 3000 visits per year.


  Royal Perth Hospital Department of Nephrology includes the following areas:

Ward 6A Admission ward for procedures associated with renal care.

Ward 6C Dialysis unit located Level 6 South Block.
  • New patients to the Dialysis Programme to establish their future dialysis plans and to stabilise treatment.
  • Treatment for all patients who require admission to RPH for operations, serious illness and or who require intensive dialysis treatment.
  • CAPD
    Training Unit
    This service will be off site as of 1.7.2006.
    Home Dialysis Training Unit As of 1.7.06 Fresenius Health Care will provide facilities that train patients for peritoneal dialysis, home haemodialysis.
    Satellite Dialysis Unit These units are locatedaway from the main hospital. They cater for haemodialysis patients who are well and generally able to assist in some way with their own treatment. Satellite Units are located both in the metropolitan and country areas.
