Language Services

We provide an on-site interpreting service in over 60 languages to hospital staff and patients.

We use the skills of more than 50 language contractors, two full-time interpreters (Chinese and Vietnamese) and interpreters who are booked through the Translating and Interpreting Service (external site) and the WA Deaf Society (external site).

We provide more than 150 on-site interpreting services every week at:

  • Royal Perth Hospital 
  • Mercy Restorative Unit in Mt Lawley
  • Ursula Frayne Unit in Mt Lawley
  • At home visits for patients.

Requests for interpreters and the allocation of interpreters is managed through the specifically-designed Language Services Computer System (LASS).
