Medical Oncology
Medical Oncology and Palliative Care are part of the Division of Cancer and Neurosciences.
All types of solid tumours are managed within a framework of comprehensive coordinated care.
Multi-disciplinary meetings are held regularly for the following cancer groups: breast, lung, melanoma, upper gastrointestinal, urological, head and neck.
Most patient treatments with chemotherapy are provided in an outpatient day ward setting.
There is an on-site pharmacy cytotoxic drug preparation suite and specialist Nurse Practitioners administer chemotherapy.
There is a full range of allied health support including Dietitians, Social Workers, Physiotherapists, Speech Therapists, Nurse Counsellors and Chaplains

Regular educational, peer review and audit meetings are held throughout the year and an extensive range of trials are run with various cancer groups.
The unit has a special interest in co-activators of the oestrogen receptor and its translation to clinical practice.
