Visiting times

General visiting hours: 8am to 8pm
Rest periods: 1pm to 2pm

All wards have a period where the patients are encouraged to rest. Visitors may be asked to leave the ward during this time. Patients wishing to have visitors during this rest period may be asked to move to a lounge area so as to allow other patients quiet rest time.

Please note: Some areas such as the Intensive Care Unit, the Emergency Department and the State Adult Major Trauma have restricted visiting and extended rest periods. Please check with ward staff before you visit these areas.

For the comfort of all patients, you are requested to limit the number of visitors to a maximum of three at any one time. In some wards visitors may be limited to one or two.

Please be aware that nursing staff on individual wards may adjust the visiting hours to meet the medical requirements of the patient.

For the well-being of everyone, you are asked to not bring babies or small children onto the wards (children are not permitted in some wards/departments including the Emergency Department, Intensive Care Unit and High Dependency Ward).

Flowers are able to be brought onto most wards, although there are some exceptions (for example the Respiratory Failure Ward). If you are not sure if bringing in flowers will be okay, please contact the switchboard and let them know what ward your relative/friend is on.
