The Royal Perth Bentley Group is pleased to present NEXUS Connecting Healthcare and Aviation - Human Factors Training (external link).

The one day course will provide a world-leading, innovative training experience specifically designed to improve the Non-Technical Skills of communication, assertiveness, teamwork, leadership, error management, situational awareness and decision-making for healthcare professionals.

Date: Friday 4 May or Saturday 5 May
Time: 8.30am to 4pm

Course facilitators:

  • Anthony Lock, RPBG Director of Non-Technical Skills and Human Factors Training, Royal Australian Air Force and Airline 737 Pilot
  • Dr Jon Spiro, Royal Perth Hospital Interventional Cardiologist and Senior Lecturer at the University of WA
  • Mick Aspinall, Royal Australian Air Force Pilot and Facilitator in Human Factors and Non-Technical Skills Training, and Airline 747 Pilot
  • Jana Ewing, International Adult Education Specialist and Non-Technical Skills Airline Facilitator

The course is designed to enhance your skillset in the following areas:

  • Awareness – Why non-technical skills are important to patient outcomes
  • Communication – Avoid misunderstandings, the read-back technique and how to break down assertive communication
  • Teamwork – working collaboratively with colleagues
  • Leadership – situational leadership, providing direction, coaching and delegation
  • Situational awareness – maintaining awareness in high stress situations
  • Decision-making – intuitive and analytical – the PILOTs model
